Ellis Island

Ellis Island is located at the mouth of the Hudson River in the New York Harbor. It was once the main entry for immigrants during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The island is home to The Statue of Liberty, one of New York’s most popular tourist attractions. You can reach the island by ferry from Liberty State Park in Jersey City also known as “The Isle of Tears” or “Heartbreak Island” because after their long journey, some immigrants were not granted U.S. citizenship and were sent back. Ellis Island also houses a museum and was seen in the movie “Hitch”.
