The zoo is run by The Wildlife Conservation Society and was redesigned in 1983 to 1988. The Central Park Zoo is home to a Rainforest, leaf-cutter ant colony, penguin house, and polar bear pool. It also has breeding programs and 3 major exhibit areas; tropic, temperate, and arctic built in discreet buildings with brick trimmed in marble and vines. Admission to the zoo is free but admission to the enclosed precincts is not. The Central Park Zoo was featured in the 2005 animated movie “Madagascar”.
