Home of the New York City Opera and Ballet, this 16.3 acre complex of buildings houses 12 arts organizations and has 3 primary roles. Its roles include presenter of artistic programming, national leader in arts, education and community relations, and manager of the Lincoln Center Campus. The center holds over 400 events annually. In July 2006, the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts made it a goal to publish at least 15 books that focus on performing arts and centering them on its educational backgrounds and archives.
