Originally the Pan Am Building, the 58 story Met Life Building is located at 200 Park Avenue. It opened in March of 1963 and is one of the United States’ 50 tallest buildings. In 1981 Pan Am was purchased by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. In 2005 Met Life sold the building for 1.72 billion dollars. The most famous residents of the Met Life Building are a pair of Peregrine Falcons that nest there and dine on pigeons. This building is one of the most hated skyscrapers in New York simply because of the fact that is so visible.
